S by Sara Morante

The characters of Sara Morante disturbe and sweeten equally. Her talent as an illustrator doesn’t feed on easy topics and resources. Just take a look at her blog to realize that under an impeccable technique lies a universe that is in a head full of impossible references, an almost morbid fascination for the beauty and an inspiration that goes beyond the stroke.

Sara Morante studied in Spain and Ireland in arts and design, but not until 2006 when Don Herbert, her lithography teacher in Arteleku (Donostia-San Sebastián), suggested her to explore in illustration.

In 2008, she won the National Prize of Young Art "Pancho Cossio" in Illustration category, awarded by the Youth Department of Cantabria Government. She has been selected in the exposition of IV National Lithography Prize City of Gijón 2009 and Inmersiones2009 Project (Project Amarika, Vitoria) in three categories. In February 2010 she wins the Good Shirt’s Prize, organized by “Espacio Zuloa” of Vitoria, being her design "Burka" the choice between more than one hundred proposals for a limited number of shirts.

“Señal” is an illustrated book of poems written by Raul Vacas that will be published by Mundanalrüido during 2010.

For FillTheType’s “S”, the own illustrator becomes a "character herself" to whisper without making any sound. Sara Morante’s piece entitled "Sh" uses the sign language to let us enter her world so exquisite and personal.

Come in and see, the door is open.
