Itziar San Vicente es ilustradora y nació en Vitoria en 1984. Itziar de pequeña no sabía lo que quería ser de mayor. Entre muchos proyectos de futuro quería ser arqueóloga, tener un hotel para perros y saber respirar bajo el agua. Pese a los precoces éxitos que cosechó de pequeña (en su familia todavía recuerdan el dibujo del día del padre), Itziar necesitaba, como todo artista de vocación, un punto de inflexión para saber que lo suyo era la ilustración. Ese momento llegó a los tres años; su madre quería darle la papilla, Itziar no quería comer. El resultado fue un babero lleno de manchas de tomate. Ese día Itziar no sólo descubrió su vocación, también descubrió los colores. Desde ese momento, éstos han sido el motor de su inspiración.

En el portfolio de Itzi conviven osos polares travestidos con lobos pastores, los gallos se visten “de cocktail” y los periquitos viajan en Vespa de La Latina al Dos de Mayo. Exploradora incansable, colecciona las referencias e inspiraciones más bonitas que se cruzan en su camino. El universo de Itziar San Vicente es reconocible y personal pero a la vez se reinventa en cada pieza de forma inesperada.

Itziar San Vicente is an illustrator and she was born in Vitoria in 1984. As a child, Itziar didn’t really know what to do as an adult. Becoming an archaeologist, running a hotel for dogs and being able to breathe under water were among the many aspirations she had as a child. Her talent for art was noticed from very early on, and to this day, her family treasures a picture she drew her daddy for father’s day. Like all artists, Itziar experienced a moment when she realised that, at least in her case, illustration was going to be her speciality.
This pivotal moment happened at the tender age of three, when being fed by her mother. Itziar wasn’t hungry and the result was her bib being splattered with tomato stains. That day, Itziar not only discovered her vocation, but also the significance of colours. From then on, this event became the driving force behind her inspiration, which is clearly seen through her extremely colourful and playful works.

In Itzi’s portfolio you can find polar bears transvestites with shepherd wolves, cocks wearing "cocktail dresses" and little birds travelling to La Latina to Dos de Mayo by scooter. Tireless explorer, she collects the prettiest references and inspirations that she find on her way. The universe of Itziar San Vicente is recognizable and personal, but at the same time, she reinvents herself in every work unexpectedly.
